Request to Participate in Ride-Along Program

• Ride Along application and waiver packets may be picked up at the Hastings Police Department or downloaded from this site.
• Completed applications and waivers must be delivered to the Hastings Police Department at least 14 days in advance of the requested date.
• Your request will be forwarded to the Operations Commander.  A Shift Commander will review the application and you will be contacted by telephone or e-mail as soon as possible after your request is reviewed.
• If approved be aware that last-minute staffing changes could occur, possibly causing last-minute cancellations. Priority is given to Reserve Officers and college interns.
• You must dress in appropriate business casual attire, review the Ride Along Program Guidelines included with the ride along application. The shift commander has discretion to deny your ride if you are not properly dressed.
• You must be at least 14 years of age to ride-along. Riders under 16 must select ride times that do not violate Hastings City Curfew.
• Citizen riders may only ride one time a year, and for no more than six hours.
• All participants must sign the application waivers, those under 18 must also have parental signatures.  Incomplete applications and waivers will not be accepted.
