The Hastings Police Department utilizes special programs to foster
relationships with the public so we can work together to improve the quality
of life in our community. The youth of our community are our top priority. We have a number of programs to reach our youth, including D.A.R.E., and G.R.E.A.T. Keep Kids Alive Drive 25 is an educational program to remind drivers to slow down in residential areas. The School Safety Teams, work closely with each of the schools in our community to help develop school safety plans and have positive interactions with youth in the schools The department takes a proactive approach to preventing crime, through Neighborhood Watch, public education, and business security audits. Contact the department for more information about these programs. Also, crime prevention information is posted online. Officers can also speak to your group about any of the following topics, and more. Tours of the station or 911 Center are also available.
Citizens help serve the department through the Chaplain and Volunteer programs. The Hastings Police Foundation provides financial support and assistance to a number of our special programs. The first Tuesday of each August, we host National Night Out at Heartwell Park. You can learn more about many of these programs by clicking on the links above or contacting Captain Gene Boner.
